At Medical Lake SHP Spokane Housing Ventures is partnering with Spokane County Community Development Department and the Supportive Living Program to provide 6 units of affordable housing to at risk individuals and families connected to the County’s Supportive Living Program. This project provides a stable housing environment as these individuals and families work their way back into permanent housing. Spokane County and SHV received a HUD Supportive Housing Program grant in 2002 to provide acquisition, rehabilitation, leasing and operating funds. ESD 101 Americorp/Youth Build program participants completed major renovation on the units in August 2004. A small laundry facility was built on the site in 2005 by ESD101 after it was learned that the only coin op laundry in Medical Lake had closed. Spokane County expects to replicate this project with other non-profit housing providers if we are successful over the course of the remaining two years.
